Degree Requirements

30 credits are required to earn an M.S. in Cybersecurity. Each student should take at least two core courses, major courses from the listed categories, and finally, the capstone course. The courses and course categories are listed below.

Curriculum

Core Courses

Students must take the following two courses: 

  • course- Topics in Information Security Credit(s): 3

    course - Fndn Cybersecurity Sciences Credit(s): 3

Application Category

Students must take at least one course from the following: 

  • course - Data Mining/Knowledge Discover Credit(s): 3

  • course - Distributed Database/Security Credit(s): 3

  • course - Forensic Computing Credit(s): 3

  • course- Internet Media & Security Credit(s): 3

  • course - Applied Cryptography Credit(s): 3

Network Category

Students must take at least one course from the following: 

  • course - Firewall & Intrusion Detection Credit(s): 3

  • course - Mobil Tech & Wireless Services Credit(s): 3

  • course - Wireless Network & Security Credit(s): 3

Legal/Management Category

Students must take at least one course from the following:

  • course - Social Implication of Info Sec Credit(s): 3

  • course - Info Assurance & Mgt Credit(s): 3

  • course - IT Audit & Compliance Credit(s): 3

Special Category

Students should take any one from the following courses:*

  • course - Internship in Cybersecurity Credit(s): 3

  • course - Special Topics: Info Security Credit(s): 3

  • course - Independent Study Credit(s): 3

  • course - Master’s Thesis Credit(s): 3

    * Under certain conditions, it can be satisfied by one other graduate IASP or CISC course approved by the Program Director.

Major Elective Category

Students should take 3 courses from the following course categories:

  • Application courses

  • Network courses

  • Legal/Management courses

  • Special courses

The Cybersecurity Master’s Program offers a limited number of elective courses - under limited circumstances, the Master’s students may be allowed to take electives which are offered in the Computer Science Master’s courses CISC 500 or higher.

Capstone Category

Students must complete the following capstone course:
