Description

The normal developmental process of aging, abnormal adjustments to aging, and ethical issues associated with aging.  Common causes of psychological dysfunction including: Alzheimer's disease, dementia, depression, will be covered.  The most common causes of cardiovascular and pulmonary dysfunction encountered in the older adult will be examined including: atherosclerosis, pulmonary disease, cardiac disease, diabetes, peripheral vascular disease and wound care.  Diagnostic testing, appropriate physical therapy examination skills and physical therapy interventions for each of the above will be covered.  Command over concepts learned in Pathology and the ability to apply it to clinical examples will be required in this course.
