Description
This course is designed to familiarize students with the origins, development, structure, and functions of the American national government. Among the topics to be covered are the constitutional framework; federalism; civil rights and liberties; political parties, campaigns and elections; the three branches of government, including the bureaucracy; and domestic and foreign policy. Upon completion, students should be able to demonstrate an understanding of the basic concepts and participatory processes of the American political system.
