Description
This course examines research-based knowledge of language learning and its influence on listening, speaking, reading, writing, and nonverbal communication. The course emphasizes techniques and theoretical frameworks for building a comprehensive literacy curriculum and adopting a variety of instructional practices, such as: diagnostic and reading comprehension assessments, guided reading strategies, writing and reading workshop models, integrated visual and performing arts, and reading and writing in the content areas. This course also focuses on early literacy acquisition emergent literacy, phone-mic awareness, word study, and invented spelling.
