Description
This course is designed to develop the conceptual and technical skills required by teachers to help them implement meaningful instructional and behavioral strategies for effective learning by students with disabilities. Students will develop the professional skills necessary for the observation and assessment of behavior. Emphasis is on those instruments and assessment methods that provide direction for instructional and behavior management. In addition, students will learn to plan, implement, and evaluate behavior management programs for individual students in a variety of learning environments. Theoretical formulations and practical applications of behavioral techniques, especially as they apply to management and control of behavior in the school, are stressed. Ethical considerations regarding behavior change procedures are discussed.
