Description
This course provides an introduction to issues related to the professional practice of speech-language pathology and audiology. These issues affect the delivery of service according to the political, cultural, linguistic, economic, social, health care educational priorities of the country. The course will acquaint students with strategies for coping with a variety of professional clinical issues and continuous changes in the field. Information pertaining to professional ethics, credentials, contractual aspects of the client-clinician relationship, malpractice, legislation, managed health care, copyright, documentation, patient rights and scope of practice will be included.
