Course Description
Building upon the knowledge of NURS-749 advanced pharmacology, this course emphasizes pharmacological treatment guidelines of primary care concerns. Emphasis is placed on pharmacological decisions made by the advanced practice nurse. Content includes pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics, mechanisms of action, drug classifications, first and second-line therapies, and evaluative outcomes for drug therapies. Clinical case studies address ethical and legal issues connected with drug therapies, complementary therapies, and provide a lifespan perspective for decision-making.
