Clinical Practicum for Mental Health III – Behavioral Health

Course Description

This course consists of a 240-hour clinical practicum. This course builds upon the student’s proficiency in comprehensive mental health evaluation across the lifespan within the context of family, community, and culture. Using an evidence-based practice framework the student will apply health promotion, disease prevention, and screening recommendations, and assess and manage most common acute and chronic mental health illnesses in adults. Students will demonstrate knowledge of advanced mental health pathophysiology, psychosocial and therapeutic techniques, and pharmacologic interventions according to current standards of care across the lifespan in mental health clinical settings while learning the PMHNP’s role and responsibilities in the provision of patient-centered, ethical, culturally competent care.
